Honda Forza 2014 Oil Change

For anyone interested in doing their own oil change on the Forza, it’s a very easy process.  The oil filter and drain plug are easy to get to.  I bought an oil filter and wrench set (see photo), along with a washer for the drain bolt and two quarts of oil (it only needs 1 and ½ quarts).

What I Paid for my 2014 Honda Forza 300

Several people have asked whether the dealer will negotiate on a Forza.  I was able to negotiate on all of the motorcycles and scooters I ever bought.  The key is to have the will power to wait a few days and to not look too enthusiastic about buying it.  A lot of people go into the dealer and walk out with the bike the same day because they just want to have it right then.  They can’t wait to ride it and their eagerness costs them extra money.

Forza Odometer Settings

I was out riding today and noticed my clock was off by an hour because the time moved back this weekend due to daylight savings time.  So when I stopped to refuel,  I started playing around with the mode and reset buttons,  trying to see if I could figure out the clock without referring to the manual.

Needless to say,  I couldn’t figure it out until I got home and read the manual.  You press and hold the reset and mode buttons at the same time for a few seconds until the hour starts blinking.

But after I set the clock,  I noticed that my odometer, speedometer,  and average fuel consumption were now all being displayed in kilometers instead of miles.

I looked through the manual and it says nothing  about how to change it back.  It just says that US models display in miles,  and Canadian models display in kilometers.

My local dealer is closed tomorrow so I’ll try calling Honda headquarters.  I couldn’t figure out the clock,  but I sure figured out the odometer.   I’ll update this post after I find out what to do.   If anyone knows the answer,  please reply.

What Should You Keep in Your Scooter’s Trunk?

I was getting ready to go for a ride on my Forza, which was parked in front of my house.  As I walked up, I could see that a bird had left a souvenir on my seat.  I went into the garage and got a rag and some water to clean it off.   But that got me thinking.  What if I wasn’t at home when this happened?  What if something else happens when I’m out riding?  Do I have enough “essentials” in my trunk?  What are the essentials?  What should I have with me when I’m out riding?

Honda Forza Power Outlet

The Honda Forza comes with a power outlet in the front dash.  It says right on it 24W Max, 12V, 2A).  I was a bit disappointed to find out I could not plug in my heated jacket liner I bought from Gerbing when I had my Honda Goldwing.  It requires 6.9 amps.  I didn’t realize this power outlet is probably just for charging your mobile phone while on the go.  I think it will work with a GPS, but I haven’t looked into it yet.  Not sure of other good uses for this outlet.  If anyone can think of any, please comment.
